Accessible Packaging

Rationale

Raymond Tinyow 3372992

The re-design of the packaging of olive oil is to specifically cater for those who are suffering from arthritis, ad as well as anyone who suffers from some sort of impairment in the hands, whist yet at the same time not causing a disadvantage to others.  The benefits of olive oil associated with arthritis are that it has the ability to dampen inflammation. The shape of the body itself is shaped ergonomically to allow for it to be easily picked up with one hand.  There are guidelines in place that suggest that if an object were to be picked dup in one hand comfortably it should not have a switch of more than 71mm.  The bottle cap while traditionally a aluminum screw on has to be re-designed into a HDPE nozzle, that is able to shut on and off, through a snap on twisting mechanism.  There are essentially two parts to the mechanism where there is a inner lid and outer.  The inner lid screws on to the bottle while the outer lid snaps onto it.

The labeling has been designed closely to many suggested guidelines for designing to cater the needs of those with arthritis.  The design manages to be sleek and minimal at the same time.  For important elements such as warnings and instructions, bold characters are used to create contrast in order to highlight its importance.  The use of lower case in combination with upper case and is carefully thought, where the pure use of upper case letters is hard to read.

Awesome looking design, heroshot rendering is amazing and the mechanism is very well resolved. My only change would be to add some more texture to the bottle to aid grip to for situations when the bottle may become oily on the outside.

Very well resolved mechanism and graphic design. I think that the overall form could have had a bit more of a re-design as it kind of looks the same as lots of products on the market.

The posters look amazing, particularly the hero shot, the mechanism is also spot on. I think the shape could have been worked on a little more, maybe have it as a little bit more organic but overall a really innovative design.

I like the innovation with the finger tab easing the accessibility issue with olive oil, especially since it's recommended to support a healthy lifestyle. A suggestion I may add would be to create a tamper seal in case they accidentally open during transit. Nice work Raymond!

The posters look excellent. I like how you managed to put the oil in the bottle in the rendering. The bottle looks a bit too square for your hand to hold. The lid mechanism seems quite east to operate but one concern is if you push the tab too hard it could proberly snap and turn into another bottle with a twist top and it would be difficult for arthritis users.

very interesting design. The shape that you have catered for people with arthritis works well, at first i thought this was made out of glass which i had some conflicts with but then when i noticed it was mater from HDPE i feel it can work, that being said you might want to explore using PET. The nozzle appears to work well and doesnt add much to the cost. The nozzle seems rather helpful especially compared to what else is on the market
