Product Service System

Rationale

Mental health and well-being is the state in which the individual realises his or her own abilities, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.  Edge is a public interactive display system, which may be distributed and set up throughout the city and areas where there are high volumes of traffic, which acts as a suitable medium as it may be easily saturated throughout cities.  The problem with the existing display systems is that it only offers marketing materials to the public, with no real benefits to society.

The interactive display works on the application of ‘the science of smile’ where there is evidence to suggest that smiling (real or fake) is able to induce positive emotions.  The interactive display encompasses an application, which allows the user to take portrait shots, which are then added to a combined collage.  Which may be shared and downloaded through QR code.  This aim’s to subtlety induce positive emotions and behaviors into the public without acting like a well-being exercise. The interactive displays then allow people to access news and entertainment.

A number of design features have been incorporated into the system in order to subtly evoke positive emotions, such as the use of yellow in the interface.  The colour yellow is shown to evoke positive thought and optimism.  There is also a spotlight that serves for two functions, one of which is that it provides greater exposure  and it creates lighting for the portraits taken.

The way you've designed your product and system has been well planned out. The way it doesn't single out people who may or may not suffer from mental health. I think you could have used your product as an opportunity to create a sort of street art while incorporating this system which may help attract more people to use the system

Great design!

I particularly like how this concept plays on the idea of having fun and getting involved in a wider community of like-minded people.

In regard to your design, I might suggest utilising solar power to run the unit if this method is appropriate.

Your design is an interesting idea, I like how you've executed it so that you're targeting a wide variety of people. I think you could have incorporated a way in which it could function on its own without the need of maintenance, so Ryan's solar power idea would be something to consider. But other than that, your renders look really good and your posters are quite well done.

I think the design is nicely thought out in detail. I love how you show the ergonomics that people in different height can interact with the device. I like the storyboard poster the interface looks very appealing! Hopefully we get to smile in-front of it soon =)

good design concept. i like the way you solve that issue in to this product and service system. and also you considered the different height of people can made the camera height suitable for all age group. for the suggestion, maybe make this whole product appearance more colorful to attract people and make people feel happy. beside this, you did wonderful job!
